Purezza di linea e perfezione del meccanismo – Alfa Romeo
As if that phrase was invented for the 8C. A second and third synonym for the 8C is stubborn and unique. Something that also ties in with its one and only owner: Jan des Bouvrie. He, too, saw salvation in the beautiful lines of the future classic. At its introduction the 8C was available in three colors, but Jan wanted it white. After some calls from the main importer in the Netherlands, a white one was specially arranged for Jan.
And say it yourself as an enthusiast; an über Alfa, 8 cylinders and all the genes of a supercar. The price too, something we normally spend on the housing market. But Mr. Mortgagor, this driving temple has just as much rational potential as the current overstrained housing market!
Many modern ‘odes’ do not fare as well as expected. Especially because the old was so iconic that the new can hardly help but disappoint. Alfa, as one of the few, does manage to do this. The engine was developed together with Maserati. Those guys from Bologna know what they are doing with the 64-valve cacophony. Alfa poured some extra venom and passion into this. End result? Gaddamn how good. A meaner and sharper roar from the 4.7, even more afterburner and above all, even more goosebumps!
She was recently fully serviced by the Alfa Dealer who also delivered her new. With its 19 thousand kilometers it has been driven in, but has not given out enough smiles. One of the 500 Italian heroes driven by an absolute Dutch style icon. Do we need to say more? We’ll see you soon.
– Not surprisingly, white dominates. Not because I like it so much, but because it gives space and works amazingly with the art and lines. I also painted it black here once, but that totally depressed me.’ – Jan des Bouvrie
