– A car hat reflects scientific achievement. Not merely social acceptance. – the BMW E28
As you may notice we are secretly a little fan of BMW. The kid in the class that gets a little more attention and love. Not because we do it on purpose, but out of love for the brand. The sharknose, the quadruple headlights, modest touches for the enthusiast but not too flashy. BMW started making cars because after WWI, Germany was no longer allowed to produce fighter planes. Did this disappear? No, BMW still made fighting machines, but on wheels!
Iconic 6-in-line engines with a growl they can only manage in Munich, always rear-wheel drive and when seriously steering, definitely not a car for beginners. Neither is ours; the E28 535i with the iconic M30 block. 218 Bavarian horses race and pedal behind the (then beautiful) BMW kidneys. The entire interior also feels like a cockpit. All the gauges, clocks, and control buttons are focused on the driver, ready to not drive fast, but fly slow.
There were eventually 722,328 E28s born in Munich (!), but ours is very special. She is part of only 200 pieces, which, through the predecessor of BMW Individual, was delivered. How do you recognize her? By the Blau Schwartz Metallic Sonderlackierung and the small plate on the center console. Number 73 of a total of 200 units, which were born without an M-package, but with the same power source and chassis. A real wolf in sheep’s clothing! With its 78 thousand kilometers and full history, this is one to be taken care of. Who will come and have a look at this athlete in suit at our clubhouse?
