The story behind this collectible...

The Chrysler Crossfire made many enthusiasts look forward to its 2003 unveiling. Like most American cars, especially if they claim to be "sporty," they are very much under fire from Europe. Therefore, even the Crossfire did not actually receive the final recognition it absolutely deserved. The build quality was very high, thanks in part to Karmann. Indeed, in Osnabruck, Germany, the Crossfires were born and rolled off the assembly line to German construction standards.

Under the skin, this American is actually not American at all either. Indeed, it is a Mercedes SLK with, we think, a better-looking coat on! The 3.2 V6 was sent from Stuttgart at Mercedes directly to Karmann!

So is the Chrysler Crossfire really a sports car? No. But it is an awfully good handling, comfortable tourer with more than enough potential. Furthermore, all principles of a sporty convertible are correct: push in the back (rear-wheel drive), lower seat, far behind the front wheels with a long stretched and nicely shaped hood. This is just what we are looking for in a six-cylinder convertible. Being able to go on vacation without kidney belts and not always feeling like you "have" to accelerate.

Ours is a little extra special; it has received an extra body kit from Karmann. The rear diffuser and front lip give the Crossfire just that little bit extra; without them it is a bit dull. This together with the deep black exterior and dark red interior make for smiles a litre! With 47 thousand kilometers and two owners, this Mercedes is just broken in. Who is looking for a nice, sporty convertible to make nice touring trips? This is it!
