Jaguar XJS
Specifications
Jaguar XJS
The Jaguar XJS. A car that had a huge and almost impossible task; to succeed the E-type. The XJS showed clear changes in character compared to its predecessor. Whereas the E-type differentiated itself with sportiness, the XJS placed comfort at the top of its list of priorities. However, speed was not forgotten. While the E-type only received its 12-cylinder engine much later, the XJS was immediately fitted with Jaguar’s well-known 5.3-litre V12 engine. The manual gearbox was available for a short while, but given the focus on luxury and comfort, it disappeared again quickly.
With 285 hp, the V12 provided good performance figures. The Jag reaches 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and has a top speed of over 250 km/h.
Our Jaguar XJS convertible is an original European delivered enthusiast’s car and has been in possession of the third (!) owner up until now. The first convertibles were built by an American company called Hess & Eisenhardt. This was because Jaguar itself could not build a decent convertible. Nowadays, they do manage to do it themselves!
Besides the fact that she hasn’t given out many smiles a litre given her age (99,898 miles), she has an extensive history; A unique driver’s car that definitely belongs in our collection of Cool Classics! Will we see you soon?
