Lotus. A brand known for very agile, agile and almost skittish little cars. And yes, we use the diminutive word on purpose. Because for us Brinta-eating Dutch it was difficult to get in and out of the Exige, Elise and Elan. What did make the Evora more like the Dutch was its considerable increased weight. Where the previous Lotus(es) stayed around 1000 kilos, the Evora weighs almost 500 kilos more. Is the Evora still really a Lotus, we hear you think. Abso-flipping-lutly!
Where the average waterflower had to make do with the 1.8-liter four-burner borrowed from a Toyota Corolla, the Evora team took a slightly more potent engine from the Camry. Doesn’t sound very exciting, but if you mount a hefty booster on it, you’ll have nothing to spare as a home-and-home driver! Our Evora S is fitted with an extra performance kit, which increases the power to 400 HP. And that, that is really not a problem anymore when merging on the Nordschleife.
And if we are very critical, it remains an English car. Shrink cows on the door panel, button lighting from someone who has a light allergy and unfinished air vents. But is that what it’s ultimately about? Absolutely not. Lotus itself rightly says; A true drivers car. The chassis, engine and transmission are very happily married and inspire great confidence. This Evora S ‘Performance’ comes from the first owner and has only tickled the underbelly for 40 thousand kilometers. Will we see you soon, Schumi?I'm interested in this object
