Mercedes 560SEL

Das Beste oder Nichts. – The Mercedes 560SEL
A Mercedes for bank directors, highly qualified civil servants and country executives with a – somewhat – dubious past. Fortunately Nelson made up for everything, and he too was transported in the extended Sonderklasse of the W126 generation! In 1979 at the IAA in Frankfurt the first one was presented to the public. A time when the Germans sold the cars in parts without a second business plan. Designed by Peter Pfeiffer. What? Wir verstehen nicht, was so lustig ist ja?!?
In the end, 818 thousand W126s were born, of which some 28 thousand are still driving around Europe. The rest have started a second life alongside the Landcruisers and the Defs after EU retirement. So she can slowly get on the list of endangered species. The 560 was built for the American, Australian and Japanese market, because they found the 500 SEL a bit tame. So they lengthened the stroke of the 5 litre, mounted slightly higher heads and got the power from 240 to 272 pushing Germans. And those, they are so potent that the neighbour with his 325i becomes very insecure when merging on the highway!
Ours? As you are probably used to. Completely original and unrestored. Dark blue on dark blue, sunroof and no options unchecked. 96 thousand kilometres and fully dealer maintained. The previous collector finished her off, we think. The original rims are made three dimensional by hand and her suspension is equipped with air bellows. Fully independently controlled and adjustable. Over 4000 Watt of audio built in and everything ‘hidden’ in the spirit of the times. The end result? The only W126 with humour. Can we see you soon?
A condition of orientation. – W126
