Volkswagen Karmann Ghia
Specifications
The Second World War was over, the economy was starting to recover and so Volkswagen decided that it was time for a really nice car. Sure, Volkswagen already had quite a few Volk in the car, but they didn’t have a real sports car yet. So the men in Wolfsburg decided to call Karmann. The coach-builder who had already worked a lot with Volkswagen. They, in turn, decided to call Ghia in Turin. The Germans and the Italians were still close. Ghia, in this time designer of cars for brands like Jaguar, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce and Ferrari. Not the least of them. And this triptych of collaborations turned out to be a good idea as it led to the creation of the stylish Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.
The previous owner, not the least of which is one of the biggest Bentley and Maserati collectors in the world, only had one real dream car. A favourite car from his childhood. You guessed it… the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. And he too had an idea for such a triptych. But just a little different. His favourite colour for a car he saw at Maserati, namely “Grigio Granito Metallico” and therefore the car was completely repainted in this colour. And the interior? Of course, he copied that from Bentley. This has resulted in the interior being finished entirely in Connolly Leather, once again the best marriage of several brands.
Of course, the engine has not remained entirely standard either. It has been tickled by uncle ferry and with the help of some parts of the 356 this one is more than happy to join the modern fast concrete slabs.
As you can read, the owner has spared no expense to get the car completely perfect. More than 70,000 euros were spent on this restoration and the result is worth it! Everything is fully documented and all invoices are present.
It is waiting for us to put it back on the road. At this moment the car has only covered 1966 kilometres and is in absolutely perfect condition. Will we see you soon?
